Google working on desktop linux

Google is preparing its own distribution of Linux for the desktop, in a possible bid to take on Microsoft in its core business - desktop software.

A version of the increasingly popular Ubuntu desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian and the Gnome desktop, it is known internally as 'Goobuntu'.

  4. Yeah even I see the revolution! Dude just try your hands on Ubuntu it’s pretty awesome. Get em from www.shipit.ubuntu.com order for some pressed Cd’s. It’s absolutely free. If you can wait until 20th April, Ubuntu Dapper Drake will be out! It’s really rock solid when it comes to stability. Its core is made out of Debian the real Gnu/Linux.

Yeah you are right we can't predict what’s going on inside googleplex. They are really good at Linux. All there data centers run on their own Linux variants. They have highly scalable file system called GFS based on ext3. If they really wish to come out wid some hot new OS it’s going to be rocking! Even I wish the same.
    Happy Hacking,
